The Back Story
It is worth reiterating that each one of these books was destined to be recycled. Each week we intercept a selection of those that would have been pulped, either as a result of not being purchased within a timeframe or due to imperfections when being checked. With almost a million heading off to be repurposed every week, we aren’t short of choice.
There isn’t a great deal of science, just my own opinion of whether or not someone out there would give it another chance to fulfil its intended purpose.
We love books and we want as many books to survive as possible. While we are in the business of selling them, Take Your Pick Tuesday and World of Books Weekend Giveaway provide an opportunity for us to give perfectly good titles a second chance. It also enables us to give customers a chance to have something they want for absolutely nothing.
Sure, some of them may be a little beaten up or have an inscription on the front page, but that is often the charm of second-hand books. We don’t send anything that is too tatty to read, let alone present.
So that’s pretty much it: connecting books with book lovers. Unfortunately not everyone can win every time, but we certainly hope that it is something that our customers and newcomers alike can enjoy. If it inspires you to come back to World of Books again in the future, then that would be fantastic.
Nothing you Fancy?
If there’s nothing that really grabs your attention, but you have caught the book buying bug you can still take advantage of our 20% discount across all books. The Take Your Pick Tuesday code is still up and running, so just enter the following code in your basket to enjoy your discount:
