This book is an interesting one… It was recommended to me by a friend as I love The Girl on a Train and Gone Girl.
(Don’t worry I won’t give anything away that’s not already in the book description). A couple are next door for a dinner party and leave their six-month-old child at home sleeping, checking on her every half an hour and with the baby monitor close by at all times. They return home at 1 am to find the front door open and the baby missing from her crib.
From then on, you’re part of the guessing game.
What’s clever about this book is that you’re introduced to a lot of main characters very early on and develop opinions on these people. You start making assumptions based on what you know so far. As the story begins to spiral and it’s made very clear there’s more to these people than you had initially thought.
I’ve only read about 2/3rds so far but I’m worried that there’s a danger that there are too many plot twists/too much double crossing and the story is going to become a bit ridiculous. I hope that’s not the case as so far it has been very enjoyable.
I’d recommend it to anyone who is a fan of suspense thrillers!
Becky is currently reading: The Pact
Author: Jodi Picoult
So far:
I don’t want to spoil this for any of you that wish to read this book, but it is about two children Chris and Emily and they grow up together and begin dating around the ages of 15 and 14. By the age of 17, Emily has passed away due to a suicide pact that has gone wrong. I won’t go into further details.
Each chapter tells an account of the past with details of the suicide pact, so I was curious! I still am, and I can’t wait to read further into what comes of the two families and this situation they have been placed into.
I love Jodi Picoult as an author, so she is always a go to novelist on my bookshelf, her writing does make you feel for the characters and the twist and turns in the story make you revel in every moment.
If you love legal thrillers with many twists and turns, I would recommend this book for you, it isn’t quite the romance novel you expect.

Author: Stephen King
So far:
I am enthralled with Stephen King’s work, with gripping horrors to truly fantastic mysteries. This one is no different. Many are probably fascinated with the sad assassination of President JFK, this book tells of a world where that didn’t happen. Bizarre as it may seem Jake Epping time travels back in time to 1958 with a mission to stop Oswald. This book really does take you through twists and turns of a fifties world. I can not wait to read how it ends!
Louise is currently reading: Hurrah for Gin
Author: Katie Kirby
So far:
Now not being a parent, this was an odd book to choose. However upon following the surge of “Mummy Bloggers” online, and after reading this ladies funny anecdotes about her boys on her blog, I decided I would give her book a try.
Now this book is not a preachy parenting book, it is simply a book about this mother’s journey with her two boys. It is laugh out loud hilarious and at some points sad but you can tell that even though her children drive her mad, she does love them dearly. I have just gotten to a chapter about potty training and other toilet speak and with friends who have children, it is not an uncommon occurrence that Katie speak of.
If you want a good laugh, or just need to feel like you are not alone, this is a must read!
