This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Costa Book Awards, one of the most prestigious literary prizes in the UK. The awards aims to showcase and celebrate the best of literature by writers living in the UK and Ireland. Nominations are submitted by publishers into five categories, and we’re excited to share the winners of each category below.

The Costa Book Awards have been running since 1971. They are one of the biggest and most significant book awards in the UK. Awards are given to writers in the UK and Ireland in five different categories. Previous winners have included Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman in 2017, Bring up the Bodies by Hilary Mantel in 2012, and Just Henry by Michelle Magorian in 2008.
