HAPPY WORLD BOOK DAY 2013 EVERYONE!
Today is the day when books and literature are officially recognised on a Global scale (although actually it’s on 23rd April in countries outside the UK – us Brits didn’t want it to clash with Easter…) Starting in 1995, and also known as World Book and Copyright Day, or International Day of the Book, or World Book Days, this is a yearly occurance when bookworms rejoice and reading, publishing and copyrighting is promoted and celebrated on a huge scale.
With £1 World Book Day books and vouchers to be had to buy books throughout the rest of the year – this is not a day to miss out on if you’re like us and LOVE books!
Visit http://www.worldbookday.com/ for more information.
Why not have a browse in the World of Books store to see what great bargains we have available? We currently have over one and a half million quality used books in stock, and we handle on average 150,000 books per day from over 1,400 charity shops! By partnering with charities across the UK to source our books (including the British Heart Foundation), we have helped them save over £1.5 million in cost savings in the past few years – money which can be used instead on life saving work. Working closely with over 100 charities, our aim is that no readable book should be discarded, and if we can’t sell it, we recycle it! We’re proud to say that we recycle over 15,000 tonnes of books each year – imagine the height of 7500 Big Ben Clock Towers stacked on top of each other…. Yes…. that is A LOT of books!
