Where better than the fictional worlds of our favourite books? We’ve deep-dived into our fantasy fiction books and pulled out our top five favourite fantasy book series!

George Raymond Richard Martin was born on the 20th September 1948. He is often referred to as George R.R. Martin and is the American novelist and short story writer in the fantasy, horror and science fiction genres. He is best known for his epic A Song of Ice and Fire series that has been adapted into the critically acclaimed worldwide phenomenon Game of Thrones by HBO. He serves as the series co-executive producer and has also scripted four episodes of the series.
Okay, so before you go all Cersei Lannister on me – hear me out. I am a fantasy fiction fan. Dragons? Love them. Magic tales? Yes please, I’d read them 100 times over. I have read Lord of the Rings more times than I’d care to count, Terry Pratchett makes my sides aches from laughter, and don’t even get me started on Harry Potter, as I would just never stop. However, somehow Games of Thrones leaves something to be desired.
